In hypnotherapy, a deep state of relaxation is achieved through focused attention. While in this trance-like state, the unconscious mind is highly receptive to new perspectives and ideas. We actually experience trance-like states naturally everyday on a regular basis, for example when we are daydreaming, laying comfortably in bed and about to fall asleep or when engrossed watching a good film or reading a book.
The unconscious mind is the seat of all our emotions and directs nearly all our behaviour.
Hypnotherapy is a tool which enables us to communicate with the unconscious
mind to change unwanted habits or behaviour. Clinical Hypnotherapy means using hypnosis to treat a variety of medical and psychological problems. It is estimated
that over 85% will readily respond to clinical hypnotherapy. It has been proven to succeed where other, more conventional methods have not produced the desired results. When carried out by a professionally trained and skilled hypnotherapist, the benefits are long lasting and usually permanent. It is completely natural and safe
with no harmful side effects. When hypnotised you feel deeply relaxed, calm and aware of everything around you and you are always in control. You can never be
made to do anything against your will. Nobody can ever be hypnotised against their
will and, even when hypnotised, people can still reject any of the suggestions given
if they are not appropriate.
A session will usually last from an hour to an hour and a half and one to three sessions is usually sufficient with the exception of smoking cessation which is one session only.
